Sorry I haven't been able to make an announcment about this earlier, but I've been w/o cable for a week (hey, it was rent or cable...what would you do?).
Anyway, I am going to host a custom contest that will have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Prizes will be determined in a few days. One prize will be a custom done by me (in keeping with past contests), that will be announced in a few days with WIP pics shown in this thread. Voting will be done by poll forum here on this board, as before.
This is going to be on a short time-table with about a thirty day working time, so be thinking about what you want to do. I will say for certain that the format will be 3 3/4 inch ONLY (yeah, I'm hatin'), and that you should be prepared to include a detailed description of any mods, paint lists, etc... that are involved in the process. Entrants are allowed as many entries as they can complete in the time period (teams are eligible), but I ask that this be a "new" custom(s) that has not been shown here or anywhere else before. PLEASE KEEP YOUR ENTRIES SECRET UNTIL AFTER THE VOTING HAS STARTED. I will be posting companion threads on all the other Joe boards. Also, if I don't see at least 10 different entries, I reserve the right to cancel this contest.
Other than that (for now), keep your eyes peeled on this thread for more specific details in the next couple of days. I will have this started by the upcoming weekend, so get your tools ready!

man, makes me glad i don't venture into the customizing realm too often...
i'd imagine a guy that puts out work like you would be preeeetty hard to impress.

I am in Alyosha! And check out the custom contest post that is on here right now. Bekker started it i believe. There are some good ideas there. Like Post Apocolypse 2, foreign figs not available in teh US, movie or game characters, etc.
I think Joe was going to make a poll sometime soon for us to vote on. Of course its your contest so you can call the shots.

Alright, time for an official contest announcment. I have decided on a theme, even though there hasn't been much response yet.
The official theme is: "Screw the Man! I'll make my own!". Your objective is to find an exclusive off the included list, and make a copy, update it or make your own version. This must be in any 3 3/4 format (yeah, I'm still hatin'), including uber-deluxe full custom or LBC. It can be a piece that you've already started on, but I would like it to be something that you are going to finish just for this contest.
NO PREVIEWING YOUR CUSTOMS PLEASE! I'd like to keep this pretty close to the vest until they are all ready to post together. These pictures will all be shown together in the same thread at Toy News International.
You can do some research on the pieces listed below at the following sites:

(beware of pop-ups, and you can translate text at: Babelfish from Portugese into English)
Between all of the links I have included for you, there should be something that interests you, so please choose what you are intrigued by. I pruned the lists down to take away all of the lame color variants. The whole idea is to have fun making a foreign, convention or mail-away exclusive that you might not run across otherwise.
The voting will be held here (via poll) exactly 4 weeks from this coming Sunday the 30th of January. That should give you almost 5 weeks to get as many figures as you like finished, and as fast as some of you guys work, I expect to see a few multiples. Entries are unlimited, and can be single figures or teams.
Prizes will be determined over the next few days, with places for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. One lucky recipiant will receive a full blown custom made by yours truly which will be shown here in this thread as it is completed (so the faster one of you guys help me get the parts, the faster you see what it is).
Also, PLEASE take the time to take a good photo or scan of your works. Multiple pictures are okay, and I can do a little photoshopping to make a few panels pics and resize them for you. Please PM me if you are thinking of participating. You are competing against guys from 5 different Joe boards, so it's time to really show off your stuff and "wow" your peers and fellow collectors! Good luck!

I'm still not quite clear on what we are supposed to make a custom of. It has to be a mail-in, foriegn figure, or convention exclusive figure not on this list?
