Do not, I repeat DO NOT put your alternators and Binaltechs in the dish washer.. My Alts and BT's have been collecting dust on the shelf, so I figure I'd put hem in the dish washer. Couldn't hurt right? WRONG!!!

Shockblast, Wheeljack, Grimlock and Asian release MP Optimus Prime were among the casualties. I dont know what it was, the dish washer detergent , temperature, maybe a combination of both? Discolored the figures mentioned above. The paint on the diecast parts on my MPOP just started to peel away!!! AAAArrrrrrGGggghhh!!!!!!

Man, I am so pissed off with myself @grumpy@ All this so I can make room for my new BT Prowl!!! Its staying in the box where its safe!!

Man what were you thinking? I've seen multiple threads warning of the dangers of putting you transformers in a dishwasher. Mine get pretty dusty too but thats nothing some damp paper towels and q-tips can't fix.

You should have at least tried it out on one of your more unimportant figures first before putting any of your good ones in it.

Oh well, look at the bright side...now you have some good canditates for practicing your repainting skills on!

Well that certainly is an odd thing to do. The heat could have also warped the plastic sice it wasnt intended for dishwashers.

If future TFs start shipping with washing instructions, we'll know why! (Same reason McDonalds have to put a warning on their coffe cups saying it's hot, lol)

Seriously, you thought that there might have even been a chance that it'd work? I like to keep my TFs away from heat, water and detergent, especially all at the same time.

Well at least you've got your wish.... You've made plenty of room for BT Prowl! @loll@

Yeah, that was a good idea. Lord knows I always do my dusting in the dishwasher. I throw in the lamp, my DVD player, potted plants, etc... It's only natural to want to dust TFs the same way.

Ok, I was being sarcastic.. I'm just not seeing how one could come to that conclusion...

Good lord. A shame someone with the money to purchase these items lacks the sense to care for them.

A light dusting with a small sable brush does wonders for mine. Then I just go around with a dust devil to clean the counter space around them. I would only consider dunking in water toys that are 100% plastic with no metal joints or pins that would get rusty if they couldn't be dried thoroughly.
I've seen Alternators at clearance prices for $15.00 in several Wal-Marts, but their distribution and selection leaves much to be desired.

Now that your all finished passing judgement on me, accusing me of faking a thread. I now present to you.. Exhibit "A". Fake? Why would I fake a situation like this? @hmmm@

Anyways, here's shockblast with the discolored head. He looks reptilian now.

Wheeljack's racing stripes have dishwasher "spots"
Posted Image

Grimlock's finish is "finished"
Posted Image

Optimus Prime's knee scabs.
Posted Image

The plastic did not warp. The paint apps just discolored. As for the diecast pieces, they just peeled or bubbled. I set the dishwasher temperature to warm..and cool air dry. How was I suppose to know this would happen?
