Anyone Else Disapointed With The Ryu Vs Sagat 2 Pack

I'm disapointed with the new Ryu VS Sagat 2 pack. I think it was a poor choice for SOTA to just make the figures bloody and give Ryu an Evil Ryu energy hand. The figures just look strange and gory/gross all bloody. I thought they would at least have new head sculpts or slightly different paint apps. For example they could have given Sagat a new face expression and red stripes on the sides of his trunks. They could have given Ryu a new head sculpt as well. Ryu also could have been given a new paint wash to his clothes and maybe black hair. I could customize my own set of these figures with a bottle of ketchup and 1 hand from the SDCC Evil Ryu. I love all the other Street Fighter figures SOTA has made, but this new 2 pack is just bad imo.

It also seems like a very boring 2 pack.

Here are my thoughts on the set that I posted in a different thread;

Quote

I don't know but the set is a bit of a let down, mainly the Ryu figure. First I really didnt want to have to get another Ryu, but the fact that Sota didn't remold any of his parts (apart from using the hand from the exclusive Evil Ryu), all they did was slap some red paint on him and call it a day.

They could have really pushed things a bit and remolded the outfit to look really damaged, that would have been nice. Ah well, over all the set still looks cool, so I can't really knock it too much.

I have to dissagree. You get two of the most popular figures of the entire line together in one shot. For those who came in late and cannot find these two for less than an arm and a leg, or those who just couldn't find these two - period, this would be a great deal. And for those completists, or people who just plain 'ol already have these two, it is actually a good thing that these are just versions of already made characters/figures. Companies that release original/ unproduced characters as exclusive are just begging for a negative backlash. Just ask Mattel about that ( Keldor and Faker, anyone?).

It's definitely a let down, the whole "Battle damaged" thing seems so half assed by SOTA. If they actually changed the sculpt so that the clothes were torn etc. that' d be different. At this point I'd prefer they just re-released the originals unchanged instead of this.

I agree. I have neither and I don't want battle damage figures. I think they should have done what Snowman and the others said and it makes sense if Sagat had red strips since l believe that is his clothing is in sf1 and 2. As for Ryu, they should have given him a better head. They even repainted the figure as he looks in Sf2(brown gloves, and a different shade of white.) I think they should have redid the head, get rid of all the gore, and omit the evil ryu hand.

I have to disagree also.
First of all if theirs something new, new accessories or new head sculpt or something it will just mean some people will need to buy this to add to their collection.

Remember, the main point for releasing this 2pack is due to a lot of fans weren't able to find Sagat or Ryu. The 2pack gives fans a chance to own these rare figs. I think a variant repiant lke this does look pretty good and it's the best battle damage figure done so far.

Well, the problem with the set isn't neccesary not having new parts, but simply the figures are depicted in their battle damaged state. For instance, let's say that Toybiz released Spiderman and Green Goblin in their toy line. Furthermore, since this is an example, say Spiderman and Green Goblin was never ever released before and that this spiderman is a short packed or limited toy. Moreoever, since this toy is difficult to obtain, fans demanded a reissue of the toy. Toybiz responded with the battlle damage set with spiderman depicted like he is in the Mcfarlane art.

Not everyone would be happy since they don't want a bloody Spiderman figure. They want a standard one. Just saying that Sota should have omit the battle damage concept and just repaint Ryu and Sagat as they are seen in Street Fighter II. That would please ppl who missed on the regular set and those who wants a variant.

Hopefully, the other variant will be a non bloody one.

I'm disappointed. They are just repaints, I believe.

I have been thinking about it and well, I'm going to pass on these unless I can get the regular versions. The bloody versions look cool and all, but they just aren't really my cup of tea and really don't fill in the "No Sagat Gap" that my humble collection has right now.

I mean a bloody Sagat really wouldn't look so nice next to all the other clean bad guys at all....and So I would just end up keeping the set away from the rest of my Street Fighter collection.
